A juvenile snowflake moray eel, all attitude and improbable elegance, briefly suspended its reputation and delivered what could only be described as a model-worthy grin. The pattern was the real inspiration — silvered light sliding across black, fractured by warm gold and stark white, a surface that feels designed rather than evolved.

That geometry demanded translation. Snowflake obsidian became the only rational choice, its volcanic black body scattered with pale cristobalite inclusions that echo the eel’s mottled architecture with uncanny precision.

Cut into elongated drops, the stones are framed within a 22-carat gold and silver-plated base sourced from Istanbul, Jaipur, and Seoul, where structure and contrast carry equal authority. Tiny round onyx beads sharpen the composition, reinforcing the graphic tension between light and dark. The gold elements hold the warmth of the original encounter, while the obsidian preserves its visual rhythm (7.1 cm long).
