N°061 Statement Earrings - The Vanuatu Collection

During one of my many Vanuatu snorkels, I paused above a giant tridacnid clam and was struck by the sheer complexity of its mantle tissue.
It looked like a living painting—iridescent, patterned, and in constant dialogue with the light. I could see how the folds and colours were not just beautiful, but also a functional architecture for capturing energy. That moment stayed with me and became the foundation for these earrings.

I chose triangular gold-plated forms to reflect the strength and symmetry I saw in the clam’s shell, their surface patterns recalling the ridges and textures I drifted past underwater. From the base, I set polished tiger’s eye and agate spheres, stones whose deep golds and earthy blues evoke the mantle’s shifting pigmentation as the sunlight moved across it.

For me, translating these encounters into jewellery is a way of carrying the reef’s brilliance into daily life—a reminder of how structure and light combine to create resilience and wonder.
