Some stones politely decorate. Peanut obsidian from Madagascar stages a visual takeover. Those deep, saturated orange circles suspended in a smoky volcanic matrix feel almost mischievous — too graphic, too deliberate-looking to be accidental. Yet this is pure geology at work: iron-rich fluids migrating through silica as the lava cooled, precipitating iron oxides that organised themselves into these improbable orbital bursts. Chemistry performing pattern. Physics composing art.

The inspiration stems from an encounter with an extraordinarily delicate, overlapping veil of burnt orange sliding into tangerine — an ombré so soft it barely seemed material, layers folding over one another like living silk. No sharp edges, no rigid structure, just fluid colour dissolving into itself. Lush, saturated, quietly hypnotic.

And suddenly the stone made perfect sense.

There is arguably no better geological analogue for that kind of richness, that density of colour, that organic repetition. Set into a 22k gold-plated base sourced from Istanbul & Seoul, the composition stays deliberately restrained (I just added tiny carnelians), allowing the material to carry the story across its 6.2 centimetre drop — where biology, chemistry, and colour theory effortlessly blur.
