N°28 Christmas 2024 Special Set

"Timeless" is probably one of the most overused expressions in marketing, but when you wear a stunning looking fossil around your neck that roamed the world as an oceanic ambush predator 350 million years ago, I guess “timeless” is the only word one can use.

The mere thought of wearing something (to be exact an Orthoceras – a relative of today’s cuttlefish) that has been around for so long on this planet- it gives me goosebumps.  It looks like an artefact from the Museum of Contemporary Art – with its sleek elongated shape and little grey chambers visible, yet it has been around since the Triassic.  

Such a stunning central piece needs nothing else to shine, so I kept it really simple with warm chocolate brown pearls, black on black Onyx, Lava, Tourmaline & Agates contrasted by cool silver-plated pieces. Some of the silver comes from silver beads & findings, but some beads are hand-gilded silver.  Using the same technique the painter Gustav Klimt used to create his unbelievable gold effects on his paintings, I used silver leaf to gild meek black lava beads. Now each of these beads looks like a small globe with unknown silver continents….

Understated black on black with gemstones of many different shapes bring this contemporary & whimsical necklace alive in the most delicious way!
