N°128 Christmas 2025 Special Earrings

I was snorkeling off Lennox Head when I met a lionfish lounging like royalty on a bed of blushing algae — all pastel rose, vermilion, and a champagne shimmer that shouldn’t exist outside of dreams.
Back on land, I tried to translate that spectacle into these earrings — a little wearable ecosystem of Argentinian Rhodochrosite (the Inca’s “Stone of the Blood of Kings and Queens”), vermillion Indian Garnet& blush champagne pearls. They are7.7cm long and are set into a silver-plated base from Jaipur & Seoul).

The rhodochrosite’s pinkish earthy blush comes from manganese, that mischievous little element responsible for so much geological romance — and for a color that once seduced the Art Deco world of the 1920s.

Together, these stones echo the lionfish’s drama: elegance, danger, and just enough flamboyance to make the ocean jealous.
They’re not about being pretty; they’re about being impossible to ignore — like a creature that knows exactly how magnificent it is and refuses to apologize for it.
