A Wild Horse, Cut in Stone

Some pieces begin quietly; this one walked in like it already knew where it belonged. The entire set took shape around a single element — an extraordinarily carved Red River Jasper horsehead that feels nothing like a stabled, polished racehorse. Its posture, its forward motion, the way the carver caught breath and muscle in stone — it feels more like a Brumby on Australian high country or a wind-swept Mongolian steppe horse, the kind that survives by instinct and refuses to be domesticated. When you hold it, there’s a wildness under the polish, a pulse that doesn’t settle.

I’m a marine biologist, not an equestrian, yet something about its raw presence — and perhaps the horse-breeding history in my husband’s family — kept pulling me back. That stone demanded a setting equal to its untamed energy.

From there, the palette assembled itself: ember-toned carnelian, banded agates full of geological memory, tiny champagne–rose pearls, and soft salmon blister pearls, all settling into the heat of 22k gold-plated components from Istanbul. The two necklaces can be worn individually, stacked for density, or connected into a mid- or full-length piece. No matter how it’s worn, it shifts an outfit from neutral to intentional in a single movement.

Two earring styles complete the set. The statement pair — hammered gold with garnet, carnelian, agate, and champagne pearls — carries a bold, architectural rhythm (6.9cm long).
The smaller pair, with hessonite, pearls, and Red River Jasper on French hooks, offers a warm, quiet alternative.

It’s a set built around a wild heart — a piece that transforms you the moment it touches your skin, not by overpowering, but by reminding you of something untamed you already carry.
