One of my favourite places to dive at are deep walls & overhangs on coral reefs. You can find hundreds of species in an area the size of kitchen table and it feels like they compete on being most brightly coloured. Purples, pinks, oranges of sponges, sea quirts, bryozoan, oysters, lace & soft corals often dominate what are some of the most diverse places on our planet. These earrings pay homage to these vivacious high-diversity spots with Garnets, Carnelian, Amethysts, Agates, Crazy Lace Agate & tiny Quartz Crystals set into a 22k gold-plated base.
You might not be a diver, yet find yourself strangely attracted to these earrings? By clicking on these colourful earrings in the orange-pink–red-purple colour spectrum you have indirectly confirmed that you are a fruit-eating mammal – so subconsciously you have engaged with your own mammalian evolution. Colourful fruit like oranges, cherries, plums, peaches, … have attracted us since the earliest mammal evolution. In the very same way these feel-good earrings exercised drawn you in. These colour hues are life- affirming and yummy for us humans and that is exactly what I tried to achieve with tangerine Carnelians, vermillion Garnet, blood-orange Agates, plum Amethyst and fuchsia Crazy Lace Agate. Besides basic Ecology they look great with any black outfit – that little black dress or that black wool jumper in winter!
