Warm Neutrals With a Japanese Spine

Some sets don’t simply sit quietly on a display box — they strike a mood. This one leans unmistakably Japanese in its sensibility: elegant restraint, deliberate imbalance, beauty in what’s revealed and what’s withheld. The catalyst is the landscape jasper I carried back from Kyoto years ago. Even then, the stones felt like pocket-sized nihonga paintings — soft rose, shiras, and light chocolate striations drifting across the surface like brushstrokes on mulberry paper.

The outer necklace builds around that visual language. High-clarity Indian smoky quartz brings the translucence of morning light. Raw rose quartz, tiny agates, and elongated stick pearls introduce rhythm, a kind of mineral calligraphy. Every gold detail is 22k gold-plated from Istanbul, warm but never sugary — the colour of patina rather than polish. Both necklace can be worn independently, stacked or connected to make a mid- or long necklace!

With the inner necklace I gave a nod to both modernism and tradition: a strand of rose and shiras-toned pearls surrounding a geometric cubist rose quartz pendant. 

The statement earrings echo the same visual vocabulary: 6.9 cm of Japanese landscape jasper, pearls, and Indian chalcedony suspended from lotus-shaped, 22k gold-plated findings. They look like they belong in the margin of an Edo-era scroll — but with sharper edges.

And for days when everything needs to be quieter, the small smoky quartz and rose quartz earrings offer a more distilled gesture.

This is a set shaped by Japanese aesthetics — transience, asymmetry, the elegance of the almost-undone — yet its colours feel undeniably current. I love this one.
