A Tribute to Transience — Mono no Aware Made Wearable

This design began underwater—with a juvenile lionfish, nearly translucent, hovering like a cherry blossom ghost in a black cave. That moment of contrast—light versus void—inspired the pairing of Madagascar rhodonite, Brazilian onyx, and Shanghai pearls. Rhodonite’s blush-pink, streaked with black manganese oxide, channels both chemistry and emotion: the mineral’s atomic symmetry meets the wabi-sabi asymmetry of nature. Set into a silver-plated base from Istanbul & Seoul and 8.4cm long.

Their second act unfolds on land, in the forests near Nagoya—mist-drenched, bell-haunted, alive with ephemeral blooms. Here, mono no aware, the awareness of transience, hums through the design. These earrings aren’t decoration—they’re an ecosystem in miniature: ocean meeting mountain, science meeting art, imperfection meeting grace.
