The Brittle Star and the Desert Geometry

While diving off Komodo, I watched a fiery brittle star stretch its arms across the soft surface of a pale sponge, its pattern a map of movement and symmetry. Around it, small orange anemones swayed like punctuation marks in a living sentence. The precision of that scene stayed with me — part biology, part design.

These earrings grew from that moment: artisan intarsia stones from India, combining Onyx, rare Australian Mookaite, and Japanese Landscape Jasper. Their layered ochres, reds, and sand tones echo both desert strata and marine architecture. Tiny Carnelians add warmth, while 22-karat gold-plated circles from Seoul frame them like measured orbits.

At 6.8 cm long, they balance geometry and ecology — the meeting of reef and range, mineral and animal. A quiet reminder that pattern is the one language both nature and art have always shared.
